Some new work from the Bird Lore exhibition. The
Koreke are based on the New Zealand native Quail which became extinct in the mid to late 1800s. The last specimens know to have been taken were those formerly in Buller’s collection obtained in Blueskin Bay in 1867 or 1868. The
Waka Huia references the traditional maori form of treasure container.
